I led UX/UI for Bridgestone's foray into a mobile repair service. Customers can choose maintenance for their vehicle, and a technician will come from a local franchise to provide the service.
This product required the creation of a customer-facing mobile and web app as well as a business-facing order management web app.
I worked with business, developers, and product, running a 5 person team of designers to produce the MVP. Producing the app involved a variety of data sources. The inventory, capability, and availability of service providers, the make and model of cars and what services are possible for them, and the locations of the service provider and target vehicle, were all required information.
I was tasked with creating the design system for our venture. Bridgestone was in the early stages of rolling out new brand guidelines for print and broadcast materials. I translated these print guidelines into user interface components for digital.
I created a tokenized design system connecting Figma components to React components via Zeplin and Storybook.
Naming conventions were chosen with front-end development in mind, and component structures were designed for creating prototypes in a fast-paced environment.
Documentation was kept at the juncture between design and development for easy access by both teams.
ADA compliance was built in from the ground up. Keyboard navigation is not an afterthought but is envisioned as a way for professionals to use the software as efficiently as possible.
A design system is a living system that must continuously adapt. Without a prescribed system of governance, it can quickly fall apart.
